Requiem for the American Dream: The 10 Principles of Concentration of Wealth & Power è il titolo di un libro dell’attivista e linguista Noam Chomsky. Nel libro l’autore parla dei dogmi fondamentali del neoliberismo e offre una prospettiva critica sul funzionamento del potere a livello globale, focalizzandosi in particolare sulla concentrazione di ricchezza e potere negli Stati Uniti negli ultimi quarant’anni e analizzando la disuguaglianza di reddito. Le strategie identificate da Chomsky includono la riduzione della democrazia, lo scarico dei costi sui poveri e sulla classe media, la distruzione della solidarietà fra le persone, la manipolazione delle elezioni e l’uso della paura e del potere dello Stato per controllare la gente. Basandosi su questo libro, Peter Hutchison, Kelly Nyks e Jared P. Scott hanno prodotto questo documentario in cui Chomsky analizza i dieci principi che, in mezzo secolo di politiche neoliberiste, hanno determinato la concentrazione della ricchezza nelle mani di pochi e spiega le strategie che hanno portato alla creazione di una plutocrazia finanziaria, relegando la popolazione ai margini della vita politica ed economica.

Requiem for the American Dream: The 10 Principles of Concentration of Wealth & Power is the title of a book by the activist and linguist Noam Chomsky. In the book, the author deals with the fundamental dogmas of neoliberalism and offers a critical perspective on how power works on a global level, focusing in particular on the concentration of wealth and power in the US over the last forty years and analysing income inequality. The strategies identified by Chomsky include the reduction of democracy, dumping the costs on the poor and the middle class, the destruction of solidarity between people, the manipulation of elections, and the use of fear and state power to control people. Based on this book, Peter Hutchison, Kelly Nyks and Jared P. Scott produced this documentary in which Chomsky analyses the ten principles which, in half a century of neoliberal policies, have resulted in the concentration of wealth in the hands of few and explains the strategies that have led to the creation of a financial plutocracy, relegating people to the margins of political and economic life.
